About our pastor

David Brown was born in Southern California but grew up most of his life in the suburbs of Chicago. He attended church with his parents at the United Pentecostal Church in Harvey, IL under the direction of the late Rev. Terry Cox.

He moved to the Quad-Cities, immediately following his time at Indiana Bible College, in May of 2003, answering the call to help start a church in the city of Rock Island. He married Mandy Carpenter, who he met at college, in December of 2003. In June of 2006 they had their first child (Jonathan) and in March of 2009 they had their second child (Sophia).

Together they have a desire and passion to see The Refuge Church be a growing and thriving congregation that is just as diverse as the cities that it is found in!
